The Tower is Full of Ghosts Today by Alison Weir

Jo, historian and long-term admirer of Anne Boleyn, takes a group on a guided tour of the Tower of London, to walk in the shoes of her Tudor heroine. But as she becomes enthralled by the historical accuracy of her tour guide and the dramatic setting that she has come to love, something spectral is lurking in the shadows . . .

Contains first chapters of  Katherine of Aragon: The True Queen and Anne Boleyn: A King's Obsession, as well as the upcoming Six Tudor Queens novel about Henry VIII's third wife, Jane Seymour: The Haunted Queen.

3.5/5 stars

I've been visiting the short stories/novella's from Alison Weir's series on the Six Tudor Queens.  This one is book 2.5.

This one is a bit of a surprise, since it leaves the 1500's behind and takes place in the present day.

A historian is leading a group of tourists through the Tower of London, following in Anne Boleyn’s footsteps through her final days. As she shows them around, she separates the facts about Anne’s life and death from the myths that have grown up around her. And since it’s the Tower, there’s an eerie sense that the past isn’t quite finished with the place.

I enjoyed the change of setting. It felt a little like getting a private tour myself.  Another place to visit on my bucket list.

It’s a short read, more of a tour than a full story and another one I would have loved to be longer.  But it’s a fun companion piece for Tudor fans.

My kindle copy obtained via Amazon UK.
